Trying to live a healthy lifestyle demands a strict, consistent attitude. The ability to eat certain foods in moderation or not at all, requires a strong will.
As the body craves food, in our attempt to satisfy our cravings, we are in control of choosing between a healthier option or not.
The body must be fed and must be fed well.
We might gulp down junk food to satisfy our cravings, only to end up treating diseases in the long run.
Living an active lifestyle and choosing the right meals are keys to staying healthy and preventing our body from breaking down.
One such illness is stroke, which is a cerebro- vascular accident.
This is caused by the blockage of a brain artery.
It usually affects older people above 50years, but due to sedentary lifestyles and bad eating habits and other factors, people as young as 20years can get a stroke.
Some causes of stroke are high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, smoking, excess alcohol, obesity, family history etc.
To prevent a stroke, one must adapt a healthy lifestyle and be particular about what they do and consume.
In as much as we live busy lives, we must make time for ourselves and go for periodic checkups at the hospital to be able to notice a health deficiency, before it gets out of hand. (Fatal).
Usually for strokes an MRI Scan is done, (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). This assesses the brains tissues and shows abnormalities like tumours etc.
A brain and neck MRI Anglogram scan can also be done to assess the arteries, it looks out for cholesterol deposits, and bulging artery walls, etc.
Our health can deteriorate at any time, so we must be critical about it.
Regular exercises, the right choice of meals, an active lifestyle, less alcohol and smoking etc. Can very much save us from a fatal attack.
No one can be 100% healthy but at least we can be 60%-80% healthy by choosing and working towards it.
We must be able to strike a balance between our mind, body and soul, for a complete well-being.
Even though we can't control everything, we can control what we can.
